We are looking forward to going back to China as a school in 2026 October!
It has been 6.5 years since we went to China to compete at the Zhengzhou International Shaolin Wushu Festival. It was a proud moment as 22 Shaolin Team Canada athletes brought back many medals and fond memories.
This time we will be even more prepared and organized. We may have well over 100 people (including 50 athletes) travelling with us as our influence has grown significantly.
Our first call to action is to form a 2026 STQI China Trip Committee with Master Dao as the head of the committee and your Program Manager. This committee will ensure an inclusive and fair trip organization, with the vision to provide the social travel experience to China of a lifetime!
Below is a list of positions available:
Treasurer - managing budget, monies received, and disbursed
Marketing Director - managing and producing marketing materials to promote STC and athletes
Communications Director - managing communications with athletes and travel participants, determining needs such as website information, and regular email updates about the trip
Public Relations Director - managing communications with government, sponsors, and media
The deadline to apply is Sunday, March 2, 2025. If we do not have enough applicants, we will extend the deadline.
As a committee member, you will be expected to attend meetings (we will use Discord to organize our meetings and discussions), find volunteers to help with your tasks wherever applicable to reduce your workload, and make important decisions regarding the trip organization, scheduling, itinerary, and distribution of sponsorship monies to the athletes.
If you intend to compete in this competition, you will also earn 10 Athlete Support Points. These are the new point system where athletes can earn through various means, such as volunteering, securing sponsors, participating in competitions and grading exams, etc. The more points you have, the bigger your share of the sponsorship money! More information will be available in March.
